Rose Museum...

So, today Syl and I went out to the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, to look at an exhibition of work by Dana Schutz that I've wanted to see. Interesting... quite delicious painting in areas, unexpected colors. I'm not sure that I know the stories in these figurative works... the people are either eating themselves or rebuilding with scavenged parts. The figures are carefully clumsy and in the more portrait like pieces more intact than the "discovered" body parts that occur in the larger, more populated paintings. The interesting piece was "Google", an image of the artist at the computer, dated 2005... (with a calendar for December 2005 on the wall)...much more literal than anything else in the show.
Dunno if I'm ever going to understand how one goes from the brush to squeezing onto the canvas directly from the tube...
